Delio, even if he is generally better , from time to time has a relapse.... But we are hoping that one day he will be fine. He is now taking a different medication and it seems to be working. We have to believe in his chances to have a normal life in the future.

You remember - Delio arrived to the shelter in a very bad state. His organism had been debilitated mostly due to the fact that his ex-owner was giving him tranquilisers every day - he did not want a lively puppy, so he kept Delio in a constant coma. As a result the dog became sick and his organism was too weak to defend itself. Among others he caught mange, a skin parasite that was very advanced when he arrived to the shelter.

We have been treating him for many months but the progress was slow.

But recently .... he received a new immune vaccine to boost his defences and he immediately improved. Now his skin is much better and he is also more used to people, he is slowly gaining confidence, comes to ask for petting, gives kisses.
Still a bit shy but with some socialisation he will be ready to go to a new home, someone gentle and patient that would like to give him the "puppyhood" he never had.

We are sorry to say but Delio is not getting any better. Normally after 3 months of treatment the dog should be like new! But there is not much progress. His organism is so weak that it has no force to defend itself against the sickness. It is due to the fact that his ex-owner was giving him tranquilisers for months so he would not dig holes in the garden. That's why his organism is so weak. We are now doing a special treatment which means spraying his skin with a special product every second day. Let's see if that helps him....

Delio is being treated on his skin disease but the progress is very slow because his organism has been weakened. The ex-owner never treated the disease and now, aftre such a long time, it became very persistent.
He is so scared and shy that it makes us wonder to whom we are giving animals for adoption..... He was a healthy and social puppy when taken to a home and now he is a sick and scared dog. What did they do to him?
Why adopt at all if they don't care? They adopt just on a whim and then they change their minds? Human beings are strange creatures.

Delio tested for Herliquia, Babesia, Riketsia (three types of tick fever), Leishmaniasis and Dirofilária (heart worm), all results NEGATIVE.

His story:

Delio was adopted in May, 2009. Nealy 8 months later, in January 2010, we found out his ex owner left him at the municipal kennel to be euthanised... Fortunately, the owner was not able to present the chip registration papers, so the municipal kennel read the information on the chip and as the chip was registered on Bianca Association, they called us. They could not euthanise him without our authorisation and we would never authorise that! Next morning we were there to take him back.

On Saturday, a few days before that, his ex owner called us expressing his wish to give the dog back to Bianca. We asked him to wait for a few days until we would have a place to receive him and he said he would. But he did not wait, a few days later he just left him in the municipal kennel.

Delio is a nice and gentle dog, he never bit anyone! Why do a thing like this? Now Delio is again at Bianca shelter and he's a beautiful and gentle dog...

He has a skin parasite that should have been treated a long time ago but we will now take care of him.
